Dear Members and Friends:
As you were already aware of, Sichuan province and other areas suffered a huge life loss (>60,650 by now) and extensive property damages from the 8 magnitude earthquake occurred in Wenchuan county (epicenter)! There are still tens of thousands of people missing or in distress situation waiting for help. Especially, many young students are still trapped or buried in the rubbles and most people in disaster areas are living in open spaces with panic! I believe the sad news deeply touched our hearts. At this devastating moment we are all eager to do something to help out the people who urgently need assistance. In response to this overwhelming event We have formed Sichuan Earthquake Relief Donation Team in our Association. On behalf of this action team and SCANJ, We would like to make a call to all of you for your timely support. The Sichuan Chongqing Association has set up a donation account with tax exempt ID# for this purpose.
No matter how much you want to donate, it is your great contribution to help the people for recovery and reconstruction of their lives. Our Association has direct contact with many organizations (including charity organizations) in Sichuan and we will direct the donations to school reconstruction projects and help survived students back to schools timely. There will be no fees, no cost and any other overheads. Your donation together with your heartfelt caring will be 100% delivered to the people in need. If you have other suggestions regarding how to use your donation, please write on your check memo.

(Note: The New Jersey China Day organization sponsors us by providing their nonprofit tax ID for us).
2) Put "For Donation to Sichuan Earthquake" in the memo column on the check.
3) On back of the check, please note "For deposit only".
4) Please provide us your contact information and mailing address, so we can send receipt to you. Meanwhile please send an email to mshen@sichuan-association-nj.org noting the amount and the date of donation.
